Cornwall village plans mock funeral for its last cash machine
• St Agnes in Cornwall may lose its only cash machine, and residents say they will hold a mock funeral if it goes. • The Barclays machine was due to close on 11 December, with machine operator Link pointing people to the Post Office instead. • A local councillor said village life without it would be a disaster. • The machine now says it will stay open for now while Link reviews local needs, with no closure date set. • About 200 registered businesses operate in the village, many of them encouraging cash payments.
