Over 120 acres in South Derbyshire to become wildlife habitat

• A site near Newton Solney by the River Trent is to be turned into more than 120 acres of wildlife habitat under a nature discovery scheme. • Environment Bank plans meadows, grassland, woodland and hedgerows, and aims to link existing habitats such as the Melbourne Railway Local Wildlife Site. • Skylarks, yellowhammers, linnets and brown hares have already been seen there. • The plans also include tackling invasive Himalayan balsam.
