Woman given cancer diagnosis by hospital employee who accessed her records

• A Cornwall woman has spoken out after learning she had cancer from a hospital employee who had accessed her medical records without permission, days before her consultant was due to share the test results. • Pippa Boardman, from Lostwithiel, said the breach at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro cost her dignity and privacy, and that she only received an apology after the BBC contacted the trust. • The hospital trust said it was truly sorry and that appropriate action had been taken.
