Tighter rules planned to protect people from cosmetic surgery that goes badly wrong
• Only properly trained professionals will be allowed to carry out high-risk cosmetic procedures such as liquid Brazilian butt lifts, vampire facials and chemical peels, under government plans for England due in 2027. • Ministers say the rules will drive 'cosmetic cowboys' out of the market and protect people from treatments that can go badly wrong; there are currently no restrictions on who can perform them. • High-risk procedures for under-18s will be banned, and rogue providers will face new criminal offences and fixed fines of up to £4,000.
