Serbian leader Aleksandar Vucic ousted by student movement in seismic election
• Serbia's long-serving leader Aleksandar Vucic has conceded defeat in a snap parliamentary election, ending a 12-year grip on power after two years of student-led protests. • He said preliminary results showed the Student List had won between 135 and 140 of the 250 seats in parliament, against 105 for his Serbian Progressive party. • Turnout of 67.6% was the highest since the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1992, and celebrations erupted on the streets of Belgrade and other cities.
