Carer's allowance cliff-edge abolished in the budget

Carers allowed to earn over the weekly limit without losing out as 'cliff-edge' abolished in the budget

• The carer's allowance cliff-edge will be abolished in Wednesday's budget, letting carers earn over the weekly limit without losing the whole benefit. • A taper will withdraw £1 of allowance for every £1 earned above the £204 weekly limit. • The allowance currently stands at £86.45 a week. • The budget is also expected to confirm mileage rates of 55p and 35p and a roughly 4% rise in the minimum wage to about £13.20 an hour.
