British Airways owner profits hit by soaring jet fuel costs
• International Airlines Group, the owner of British Airways, said pre-tax profits fell 12.9% to 1.63 billion euros (£1.33 billion) in the three months to 30 September as jet fuel costs jumped 30.4%. • The group warned its total fuel bill is expected to reach 8.9 billion euros (£7.28 billion) this financial year, even with advance price-fixing in place. • Results were also dented by the 8 September National Air Traffic Services outage, which led to more than 2,000 cancelled flights and disruption for hundreds of thousands of passengers.
