Hackney Council to spend £30m reviving stalled Hoxton housing scheme

• Hackney Council has approved a £30m contract with Wates Construction to restart the final stage of the Britannia Project in Shoreditch Park, Hoxton: 371 homes in towers up to 25 storeys. • Work stalled in June when main contractor Ardmore Construction Group went into administration after a High Court building liability order over historic cladding safety claims worth £14.9m. • The scheme, which includes 51 social rent homes and 30 shared ownership flats, was due to finish by the end of 2026 and is now likely to exceed its revised £196.8m budget.
